Professor Jim Jones is a professor at Massey University's School of Engineering and Advanced Technologies. He is a chemical and process engineer trained at the Universities of Canterbury (NZ), Idaho (USA) and Cambridge (UK).
Before beginning his academic career he worked in pulp and paper (NZ & USA) and mineral processing (AUS). His research interests are the properties of particulate systems such as (among others) the thermal breakdown of wood to produce charcoal, lahars and pyroclastic flows from volcanoes.
